Assessing the effectiveness of the TaMATE1B and TaALMT1 genes to enhance the Al3+ tolerance of durum wheat (Triticum turgidum) grown under controlled conditions and in the field

Abstract Purpose Durum wheat is sensitive of acid soils because it lacks effective genes for Al 3+ tolerance. Previous research showed introgression the TaMATE1B and TaALMT1 individually increased tolerance durum wheat. Here we aimed to (a) combine into a single line, (b) compare various lines (c) establish effectiveness introgressions in improving soil field. Methods homozygous -tolerant alleles were crossed develop line that incorporated both genes.
